Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted archaeological data recovery investigations at
sites 38BU1385 and 38BU1803 between 27 January and 14 February 2003. Archaeological sites
38BU1385 and 38BU1803 are located in the Palmetto Bluff Phase I Development Tract, Beaufort
County, South Carolina. These investigations were conducted under the Treatment Plan (approved
by the South Carolina Department of Archives and History) in partial fulfillment of the stipulations
of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO),
the South Carolina Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (OCRM), and Palmetto
Bluff, LLC. Acceptance of the Management Summaries for sites 38BU1385 and 38BU1803 by the
SHPO on 24 March 2003 permitted the initiation of land disturbing activities within the sites.
