Absolute AbundanceTo determine the absolute abundance of coccoliths, the following formula is used: A=N×S×V/(s×v×m) Where A is the coccolith abundance (i.e., the number of coccolith specimens per gram of sediment), N is the total count of coccoliths, S represents the cover glass area (24 × 24 mm²), V= 10.5 mL (volume of suspension), s is the aggregate area of fields of view (FOVs) used for counting coccoliths in each sample, v=300 μL (micropipette volume), and m represents the dry sediment mass.Relative AbundanceThree dominant coccolith species—F. profunda, E. huxleyi, and G. oceanica—were counted, and the percentage of each was computed using the following equation:%(FP)= 100× (number of FP/total coccoliths)
