Camparison of the transcriptome of L. monocytogenes EGDe exposed for 1 h to pH 6.0 and 200 mg/l NaNO2 to that of L. monocytogenes EGDe exposed for 1 h to pH 6.0 (0 mg/l NaNO2). Overall design: In total, 6 biological replicates of RNA sets were analyzed. each in technical duplicates. In cDNA synthesis reactions of three RNA sets, cDNA derived from L. monocytogenes EGDe cells incubated in BHI pH 6.0 (pH adjusted with concentrated lactic acid (90 %, Merck, Darmstadt, Germany) prior to autoclaving) at 24 °C with 200 mg/l NaNO2 was labeled with Cy3-dCTP and cDNA of cells incubated in BHI pH 6.0 at 24 °C without NaNO2 (0 mg/l) was labelled with Cy5-dCTP (GE Healthcare, Freiburg, Germany). Dye swap was performed for the three other RNA sets.
