资源简介:
A sub-sample of ice-marginal lake (a lake in direct contact with a glacier) perimeters across the greater Gulf of Alaska region as they evolved over 1984-2018. These data were used to characterize regional lake area change and assess potential physical controls (e.g., topographic, climatic, and glaciologic factors). The dataset is comprised of 107 ice-marginal lakes (both proglacial and ice-dammed), which does not include every single lake in the region. Lakes were manually digitized with approximately 5-year time resolution from Landsat 5-8 satellite imagery using the Google Earth Engine Digitization Tool (GEEDiT). Data accompany the manuscript "Gulf of Alaska ice-marginal lake area change over the Landsat record and potential physical controls" by Hannah Field, William Armstrong, and Matthias Huss, published in The Cryosphere. The manuscript is available at https://doi.org/10.5194/tc-2020-366 .
