Heptranchias perlo (sharpnose sevengill shark) transcriptome, sHepPer1

The sharpnose sevengill shark (Heptranchias perlo) is a species of shark in the family Hexanchidae, and the only living species in the genus Heptranchias. The sharpnose sevengill shark is uncommon, but widely distributed in the tropical and temperate regions of all oceans except for the northeastern Pacific Ocean (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a female individual found in Okinawa Island, Japan, was procured by Gavin Naylor to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genomes Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco.
