James San Jacinto Mountains Reserve Annual Report

The James Reserve was used intensively during 1971-72, with 13,362 man-hours of use recorded. Dr. Rodoipho Ruibal, Professor of Zoology, UCR, used this Reserve as the site for his graduate field class, Biology 272 (Field Course in Evolutionary Biology). Weekly measurements were made on the Reserve throughout the Spring Quarter. A combined report, a copy of which has been sent to the President's office, was completed at the end of the quarter. Timothy W. Robertson, an undergraduate 11CR student, completed a plant survey of the James Reserve under the direction of Dr. Frank C. Vasek, Professor of Botany at UCR. A copy of this report also has been sent to the President's office. Dr. Timothy Prout, Professor of Zoology at UCR, and his graduate students began, and are continuing on a long-term basis, a study of the population genetics and ecology of the fruit fly Drosophila pseudoobscura at this Reserve.
