VPRS 15733 General Index to Inward Correspondence Register, Rolling Stock Branch

This series of general indexes was created to provide access to inward correspondence register of the rolling stock branch of the Victorian Railways VA 2876.The Department of Railways was organised into various branches, each with its own separate registry and record keeping systems dealing with its own activities and administration.Index entries were made under subject headings/name of the correspondent including branch employees, and location name. The index provided the folio reference number of the Register of Inward Correspondence. The location of the Correspondence Register is not known.The items were purchased by the Public Record Office Victoria at Charles Leski Auctions from the Norm De Pomeroy Collection of Railway Memorabilia (Lot No 1186, Auction 281) in 2006.
