Structured Observation and Visual Documentation of the Ondel-ondel Making Process (Jakarta, 2013)
收藏资源简介:
This dataset presents structured observational data and comprehensive visual documentation of the Ondel-ondel making process, a traditional Betawi cultural performance art from Jakarta, Indonesia. The data were collected through systematic field observation and photographic recording at an outdoor artisan workshop in Setu Babakan, Jakarta, in 2013. The dataset includes sequential photographs covering all production stages: bamboo frame construction, head and body structure assembly, installation of ijuk (fiber hair), mask painting and attachment, fabric and costume installation, ornament placement using coconut flower decorations, and final inspection prior to performance. Each visual file is linked to structured observation sheets that record production stages, materials, techniques, and aesthetic characteristics. This revised version expands upon an earlier upload by providing a complete and reconciled dataset, ensuring that all documented visual materials are consistently mapped to observation stages. The dataset supports reuse in visual culture studies, ethnographic research, craft and material culture analysis, cultural heritage documentation, and design-based research.
