DATASET DESCRIPTION Title:A new evolutionary unit of Merganetta armata (Torrent Duck) in Patagonia: De-hybridization, phylogeography, and implications for conservation Authors:Leggieri et al. Description:This dataset contains mitochondrial DNA (control region) sequences used in the study of genetic structure and phylogeography of Merganetta armata. FILES INCLUDED: 1. sequences.fasta - Raw mtDNA control region sequences. - Each sequence header includes sample ID and locality information. 2. alignment.fasta - Multiple sequence alignment used for phylogenetic and population genetic analyses. 3.aligment_all_subspecies. Three samples for each geographic region. 3. metadata.csv - Metadata associated with each sample. - Includes geographic location, sampling site, and subspecies assignment. METHODS SUMMARY:DNA was extracted from feather samples.PCR amplification targeted the mitochondrial control region.Sequences were aligned and analyzed for haplotype diversity and phylogenetic structure. DATA AVAILABILITY:All sequences are also deposited in GenBank under accession numbers XXXXX–XXXXX.
