Microbial Characterization of Oral Microbiome in Patients with Open-Angle Glaucoma

A separate group from the Diagnostic Innovations in Glaucoma Study had mouthwash samples taken, and 16S ribosomal sequencing was performed to identify bacterial taxa. The goal was to determine whether there were differences in the bacterial amounts and the compositions of the oral microbiome between patients with and without open-angle glaucoma.
