资源简介:
Data collected by: David, Jessie, Mark, Martina, Patrick Data collected on: September 23, 2014 Methods: Data was collected from Danby Woods at the west of the Chimney Stack Parking Lot found in the north-west direction of York University Keele Campus. A transect tape was used to measure a straight line about 58ft. Trees 10ft and higher were considered to be adult trees for this experiment. Five pairs of adult trees (random species) were sampled along the 58ft long transect line. For each pair, the first tree was measured within an arm's length (about ~2.5ft on each side of the line) from the transect line and the second tree measured was the closest to the first tree. The distance between the pair of trees, diameter at breast height (dbh) of each tree and the condition of each tree were recorded. Distance between pairs of tree: Measured in metres using a transect tape from the base of one (outer) end of the first tree to the other (outer) end of the second tree. Diameter at breast height (dbh): Measured using the transect tape in centimetres. The length of the diameter of each tree was measured at breast height (about ~4ft) by placing the tape parallel to the diameter line of the tree. Condition: The condition of each tree was noted on a scale of 0 to 2 in which 0 = dead, 1 = living with visible amount of wilted (empty) branches, 2= huge green canopy with no visible empty branches.
