Images from a Historic Building Survey at Arrow Cottage, Old Rectory Lane, Alvechurch, Worcestershire, April 2023

This collection comprises images from a historic building survey at Arrow Cottage, Old Rectory Lane, Alvechurch, Worcestershire before extension of the current structure and alterations to the roof. This work was undertaken by Allen Archaeology in April 2023. This survey suggests that the cottage may have been constructed four decades earlier than thought, at a time when the Arts and Crafts Movement was making headway in Birmingham. Map regression and site evidence would suggest that all structures were built during one phase, with some later, superficial alterations. Although Arrow Cottage is perhaps not the top candidate to headline the Arts and Crafts cottage architecture, it represents a deliberate attempt to embrace the concept.
