RAVeM: Records of Alien Vertebrates in Mountains of the World

RAVeM, a comprehensive dataset focused on alien vertebrates that contains records of over 700 species across ~3000 mountains of the World. The RAVeM dataset derives from the combination of two key data sources: 1) DASCO which classifies alien status of GBIF occurrences using country-level lists of introduced species (Seebens and Kaplan, 2022) and 2) The hierarchical inventory of the world’s mountains that provides a global mountain delineation based on terrain roughness (Schnetlage et al, 2022) The biogeographic status (i.e., native or alien) of the resulting data from this integration is then cross validated using an spatially explicit filtering process. The RAVeM dataset is accompained by a workflow (RAVeMw) that allows the customized compilation of alien species records for specific taxonomic groups or study areas and a web application (RAVeMapp) for interactive map visualization. This app facilitates access to species-specific occurrence records, mountain-specific lists of alien vertebrate species and mountain characterizations based on environmental and anthropogenic features.
