This NetCDF dataset contains monthly Effective Water Area (EWA) estimates over Kerala, India, derived from CYGNSS GNSS-R observations for the period January 2022 to December 2024. EWA represents the fractional surface water coverage within each 0.1° grid cell and is computed as the ratio of water-classified CYGNSS specular reflection points to the total number of valid specular points observed in that grid cell during a given month. Water classification is based on a two-dimensional thresholding of surface reflectivity and coherent power metrics. Grid cells and months with insufficient CYGNSS sampling are retained as missing values (NaN) to avoid artificial interpolation. The dataset is provided in NetCDF format to facilitate spatio-temporal analysis and integration with hydrological and methane emission models.
