Drinking water production

Six water companies are active in Flanders: AGSO Knokke-Heist, Aquaduin, De Watergroep, Farys, Pidpa and water-link. In 2023: A total of 350.2 million m3 of raw water was extracted for drinking water production, of which 52.7% surface water and 47.3% groundwater. Since 2021, the total amount of raw water extracted has decreased. The Flemish water companies produced 346.0 million m3 of drinking water. The effective leakage losses in the drinking water network were estimated at 52.2 million m3 of drinking water or 13.0% of the available quantity.
