The coffin-shaped reliquary is 21 cm long, approx. 12 cm wide, and approx. 15 cm tall. The pedestal (called the "xumizuo," or Sumeru dais) is 23.4 cm long, 17 cm wide, and 12 cm tall. The surface is embeded with white jade, red agate, beads, and other types of precious stones. The side panels of the coffin show the Buddha's disciples in grief. Dated Tang dynasty (618-907). Excavated in 1985 from the crypt of the Qingshansi Pagoda in China.
