Multiple esclerosis and mixed microbial infections

This project deals with the sequencing of ITS1 region which is highly variable both in length and in nucleotide sequence for different yeast using yeast-specific primers ITS1 and ITS2. The regions between the internal-2-5’ and internal-2-3’ primers with a linker tail sequence were used in a first round of PCR (specific product of 300 nt aprox.).After that, a second PCR was performed on this product using fusion primers containing Illumina and linker sequences. Samples involving different brain regions from patients with different conditions were analysed. Of these, 9 are controls-healthy patients and 10 multiple sclerosis (MS) patients.
