D. acuminata is a harmful bloom causing algae that occur in regions of Europe, Asia and South America and recently in the coasts of USA. The role nutrient is still not fully understood and its recent emergence has draw attention towards understanding the species ecology. In this study, we use RNAseq based transcriptomic analysis to understand the responses of Dinophysis cultures grown with multiple combinations of prey and nutrients using the Illumina HiSeq platform. Transcriptomes were specifically assessed for expression of genes associated with cellular metabolism.
