资源简介:
Cooperative Station Metadata is composed of two digital data sets, DSI-9767a and DSI-9767b, archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). Both data sets give information about weather stations for which NCDC has archived data. This station information is used in the plotting, interpretation and analysis of climate data. Station histories contain information about individual stations such as the station ID number and the name of the station in order to reference data in other sets listed solely under an ID number with an actual station name. In addition, a station history includes metadata about all the locations that the station has occupied over time including the latitude, longitude, ground elevation, exposure of instruments, types of instruments, whether or not the data recorded was published, the period of record at each location, and the observers during that period. DSI-9767a is the Pre-1948 Cooperative Station Histories data set, which lists older stations in the 48 contiguous United States of America in the National Weather Service (NWS) Cooperative Observation Network prior to 1948. However, the eight Great Lakes states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York have station information through 1990. DS- 9767b is the Master Station History Report. Its information is for stations since 1948, continuing through the present day. DSI-9767b lists stations on every continent, but more than 95% are US stations. This data set contains information for all NWS Cooperative Observation Network Stations, including those having only non-digital data archived at NCDC.
