These data supplement the article "Changes in ciliate communities reveal modification of lake ecosystem functioning over the last century" C. Barouillet, V. Vasselon, F. Keck, L. Millet, D. Etienne, D. Galop, D. Rius & I. Domaizon submitted to "Journal of Paleolimnology".

In this study, a curated version of the 18S Protist Ribosomal Reference database PR2 (version 4.12.0, Vaulot 2019) was used to perform taxonomic assignement of HTS data. The curation was performed using Mothur software (v1.44.1, Schloss et al. 2009) and the directory contains the following files : 

pr2_database_curation_procedure.docx : key steps applied to prepare a curated version of the PR2 database.

pr2_version_4.12.0_18S_cil_cur.fasta : DNA sequences of the curated PR2 database as required by Mothur software for taxonomic assignment of HTS data.

pr2_version_4.12.0_18S_cil_cur.tax : Taxonomy related to DNA sequences contain in the curated PR2 database as required by Mothur software for taxonomic assignment of HTS data.
