According to a survey by Rakuten Insight on panic buying after the coronavirus outbreak, 40 percent of Malaysian respondents stated that they stocked up on items because they thought that they or their household might be quarantined and would therefore not be able to buy groceries. In the same survey, 77 percent of respondents indicated that they had not engaged in panic buying because of the coronavirus pandemic, while 23 percent of respondents did.
