The mutational landscape of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma is not well investigated and biomarkers of response to systemic therapies in these patients are lacking. We performed targeted ultra-deep DNA sequencing (Agilent SureSelect XTHS) of circulating tumor DNA from blood plasma of 85 individuals (77 advanced HCC, 8 controls with liver cirrhosis), incl. sequential samples and tissue and/or buffy coat, if available (total number of samples 110), and correlated mutation profiles with response to systemic treatment in a subset of patients.
