Preregistration: RDM Compas – demands survey

The planned study aims at identifying information and training needs of RDM professionals (e.g., data stewards, data curators, data managers), as a basis for the further development and enrichment of information and training materials through original content and curated external resources on the “RDM Compas” online platform. The study will be exploratory, i.e., no hypotheses will be tested. To achieve a representative sample, N = 333 staff members of RDCs will be invited directly. Additionally, the survey will be advertised via newsletters, chats, and social media. In the survey, participants will be asked about their current tasks, knowledge and training gaps, challenging topics, in both quantitative (e.g., single, multiple choice) and qualitative (open text input items) manner. Data will be analyzed descriptively, e.g., by providing means of scales and bar plots to display which tasks and topics are most relevant and challenging.
