资源简介:
The coastal waters of New England are home to a wide abundance of fish & invertebrate species. Researchers here at the University of New Hampshire are striving to gain trends for various marine life species. The implementation of a live-stream camera feed will provide researchers with continuous footage in real time that will be beneficial in assessing for fine-scale population changes. This will facilitate work on species phenology, population dynamics, and behavior. The camera will be deployed in a subtidal zone off the coast of Appledore Island to be maintained by Shoals Marine Laboratory. Underwater research around the globe has taken off in more recent years and thorough exploration has only started in the late 1900’s. According to National Geographic, “More than 90 percent of the ocean’s species are still undiscovered”. Even by discovering more underwater species’ we still would not know how they function underwater ie. feed, breed, and live. It is important to have some sort of constant “eyes in the water” to look into how the species around us behave and be able to implement that into various subsea settings. Grant no. NA18OAR4170090
