In our previous study, orange-pigment Gram-positive bacteria were repeatedly isolated from wheat leaves with similar symptoms to wheat bacterial mosaic. The isolated bacteria were identified as C. tessellarius based on 16S rRNA region and recA gene analysis (Nazari and Ghasemi, 2022). The objective of the present study was to discriminate the possible differences between our strain with other characterized strains of C. tessellarius. Therefore, one of the isolates was characterized by phenotypic and complete genome sequencing analysis, and according to the results, Clavibacter persicus sp. nov is proposed.
