Edwardsiella ictaluri, a Gram-negative, rod-shaped, oxidase-negative, peritrichous, fermentative bacterium, is a significant pathogen of cultured ictalurids fish. It poses a serious threat for yellow catfish (Pelteobagrus fulvidraco) in China, causing crack-head disease. Here we present the complete genome sequence of Edwardsiella ictaluri YCH, isolated from diseased yellow catfish. Whole-genome sequence analysis of E. ictaluri provides a tool for understanding its pathogenic mechanism and the genomic regions specific to the species and the Edwardsiella genus.
