VPRS 1111 Minute and Memoranda Books

This series contains copies of memoranda written by the President of the Board and, after the resignation of Francis Murphy as President, by the Secretary of the Board (John Steavenson) who later became the Commissioner of Roads and Bridges. Memoranda were addressed to other officers within the Central Road Board such as the Inspector-General and the Road Engineers and to public officers such as the Surveyor-General, the Colonial Secretary and the Commissioner of Public works. Contents refer to works on roads and bridges, the establishment of District Roads Boards and personnel and other matters to do with the internal administration of the Board. Other items in this series include memoranda and minutes that were placed on correspondence being forwarded to another officer for action or comment or upon correspondence which was to be then returned to the sender. Later volumes contain answers prepared in response to Parliamentary Questions. VPRS 1111/P1 consignment was previously registered as VPRS 1119 Memo Book units 1, 2 and 4.
