Transition: a Journal of the Arts, Culture & Society, was founded in Kampala, Uganda, by Rajat Neogy in November 1961. The magazine was a major venue for African intellectual and literary discussion and publication during the time of decolonization. This dataset includes data on all the content published in the magazine during its first 50 numbers from 1961 to 1975. These numbers constitute the magazines' years in which it was based in Uganda. Later volumes, published in the United States, have not been included in this dataset. All data was transcribed from Indiana University Press's JSTOR database of the magazine, available at https://www.jstor.org/journal/transition.
