Popular outbound holiday destinations from Belgium 2019-2020

As of 2020, France was the most popular holiday destination for Belgian tourists. However, the number of vacations from Belgium to France declined remarkably over the previous year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, the number of holiday trips to France decreased from around 4.5 million in 2019 to approximately 2.6 million in 2020. When considering the activities planned during summer holidays, a 2019 survey on vacation behavior indicated that 54 percent of the respondents planned relaxing time, whereas roughly 40 percent mentioned discovering new cultures as an activity during the summer holidays.Tours more popular than mountains during summer holidaysAccording to a survey on holiday behavior in 2019, tours were more popular than city trips, countryside vacations, and mountains. The average available budget amounted to approximately 2,242 euros, a decrease of 76 euros compared to the previous year.
