Deep-characterisation of the gut bacterial and viral populations in angiotensin II-induced hypertension in mice

The gut microbiome is an emerging factor in preventing hypertension. However, most studies focus on bacterial populations, not being inclusive of other important microorganisms such as viruses. Here, we combine the strengths of viral-like particles (VLPs) and bulk metagenomic-wide analysis to comprehensively study the link between the gut bacterial and viral populations, as well as bacterial functional genes, in experimental hypertension and their link with fibre intake.
