资源简介:
Open access scientific journals in Latin America sustain themselves financially when backed by stable institutional and government support. Studies report that diamond models—eschewing Article Processing Charges in favor of public or internal funding—tend to secure reliable funding and achieve inclusion in international indexes such as Web of Science, Scopus, SciELO, RedALyC, and Latindex. Several analysts note that journals employing hybrid models, which combine APCs with institutional subsidies, face challenges that may increase financial pressure on researchers. In contrast, the use of open-source infrastructures, collaborative networks, and quality control measures further strengthens both economic viability and global visibility.
Diamond models utilizing institutional funding, combined with open-source infrastructure and quality control measures, enable Latin American open access journals to maintain financial stability and achieve international recognition.
