Caste-specific processing of construction pheromones in mound-building termites
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains behavioral data on mound-building activity in the termite Odontotermes obesus. The data were collected as part of my PhD thesis on termite communication and construction behavior. CSV files include time-lapse observations of soil manipulation, caste composition (major vs. minor workers), soil moisture conditions, and building outcomes under controlled laboratory assays and field-collected soils for the steady state timepoints 50-55 mins. The dataset is intended to support replication, meta-analysis, and comparative studies of collective behavior, stigmergy, and soil-animal interactions. Methods included choice assays for A/B testing, gravimetric soil moisture measurement, and DSLR imaging. Coverage Species: Odontotermes obesus Location: Bengaluru, India (NCBS and GKVK campuses) Timeframe: 2017–2024 Potential usesThe dataset may be useful for researchers studying collective construction, caste-specific roles, or comparative ethology of mound-building termites.
