XRF Maps, XRD Patterns, and Ca and Mn XANES Spectra for Soudan Core and Associated Thin Sections

These data were used to characterize borehole cores from the Soudan Underground Mine State Park, Soudan, MN, USA. The purpose of the study was to better understand how alteration processes affect the habitability of the crustal deep biosphere. The data contained herein consist of bulk powder XRD collected from crushed bulk core fragments and XRF maps and point XANES spectra collected from thin sections prepared from the core. These data accompany a manuscript titled "Low- and High-temperature Alteration in Fractured Rock Impacts the Habitability of the Continental Deep Biosphere", submitted to the journal <i>ACS Earth and Space Chemistry</i>.
