Wildbees unknown: Communication strategies for pollinator conservation

Bee conservation efforts need to be tailored as bees differ tremendously in their life-history traits. Despite stakeholder knowledge being an essential requirement for restoration and conservation actions, it is seldomly assessed. To shed light on knowledge gaps and guide communication strategies, we spread a questionnaire in 10 countries in Europe, targeting beekeepers, farmers, conservationists, scientists and seed suppliers assessing stakeholder knowledge of bee ecology and bee nutrition. We received a total of 2,530 valid responses.
