Single-cell RNA-seq uncovers the early alterations of retina in type 2 diabetes mice

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a complex disease, the early alterations of which remains to be investigated. We isolated retinas from the control and type 2 diabetes (T2D) mice and conducted scRNA-seq analysis using the 10x Genomics platform. We delineated the complete cellular landscape of retina and explored the early alterations of different cell subpopulations of them in T2D. Overall design: The Lepr knockout mouse model was used. The retinas were isolated from two control (BKS_WT; m/m) and two type 2 diabetes (BKS_DB; db/db) mice at ages of 13 weeks. The isolated retinas were enzymatically digested to generate single-cell suspensions for scRNA-seq.
