Experimental data used to validate the co-orientational order parameter (COOP). The data is composed of microscopy images of triangular shaped neonatal rat ventricular myocytes and engineered cardiac tissues.
Methods
Neonatal rat ventricular myocytes (NRVMs) prepared from two-day old Sprague-Dawley rats. NRVMs were engineered into isotropic tissues and triangular shaped single cells. These samples were fixed and stained with DAPI, phalloidin, and alpha-actinin. Microscopy images were taken of each stain, and MATLAB was used to determine construct orientation.
