The present study is the first high throughput transcriptome sequencing of C. feriatus. Our results illustrate the utility of high throughput transcriptome sequencing as a basis for defining metabolic pathways and tissue specific functional genomics in a non-model species. These transcriptome data will be useful for future genomic and gene functional analysis of C. feriatus.
