This dataset supports the article Ghosh et al, (2025) Understanding the mechanism of facilitation in hoverfly TSDNs PLoS Computational BiologyElectrophysiological recordings from 16 TSDNs from male hoverflies (Eristalis tenax). The visual stimuli are targets on the "random starfield", "cloud" and "sinusoidal" backgrounds.Each background's folder contains two subfolders:DATA - contains the extracellular recording data from the TSDNs for the background. The data is in MATLAB Data format.The '*-TargetRight-*'.mat, '*-TargetLeft-*'.mat, '*-TargetUp-*'.mat and '*-TargetDown-*'.mat files, are used to map the receptive field of each neuron. These were performed on a white background, with the target moving either left, right, up or down at 20 different vertical and horizontal positions.The '*-Target_*'.mat files are the recordings from target and background motion experiments.SCRIPTS - contains the scripts to visualise the DATA for the background. These are standalone MATLAB scripts.The "Scripts for Target Receptive Field Maps" folder contains MATLAB scripts to calculate the TSDN receptive fields. Ensure all DATA folders and subfolders are added to the Path. The MATLAB scripts should be run in the following order:Expt_Screen_Info.mTargetScan_Alldirections.mTargetRFMap.m"ElectrophysiologyData".prism contains graphing and statistical analyses performed on raw extracellular recordings. These can be viewed simply by using Prism 10.4.1 (GraphPad Software) to load the .prism file.
