The HR with its 95% confidence interval (CI) represents the increased risk of reaching the combined poor health outcome (dialysis, transplantation, and death) within the subsequent 6 months in patients with the symptom compared to patients without the symptom present, the increased risk with each additional symptom, and the increased risk with every 3-point lower physical and mental summary score.
