We enriched lauric acid-degrading microbial communities from rhizosphere soils of tomatoes (Zhongshu No.4) grown in eight different soils. Rhizosphere soils were cultured in minimal medium with lauric acid (1 mM) as sole carbon source for 72 hours, followed by three serial subcultures. Community composition was determined by 16S rRNA gene sequencing (V5-V7 region).
