An overview is given on biomaterial from six selected animal experiments carried out at SUBI. These experiments were, ordered by SUBIs contract numbers:
- Contract 75311: Tritium oxide effect on DNA of animal tissues structure and metabolism - Biological material from 221 female Wistar rats;
- Contract 76323: Study of body regenerative process after chronic effect of external gamma-radiation and incorporated tritium - including 1224 male Wistar rats in 6 experimental groups;
- Contract 77329: Experimental therapy at Pu intake in animals and levels of its accumulation in humans Biomaterial from 2025 Wistar rats;
- Contract 86323: Experimental development of approaches to early detection of late radiation effect - Biomaterial from 1101 Wistar rats and 442 CBA mice.
- Contract 89323: Search of criteria of elevated risk of development of radiation-induced tumors and ways of their modification Biomaterial from 1058 male Wistar rats
- Contract 93302: Peculiarities of energy Pu biological effect depending on age Biomaterial from 610 animals, paraffin-fixed (435) and in formalin (175);
Further details on the studies and on the biomaterial are given in the respective documents (which will be completed step by step, i.e. contract by contract).
The collection and collation of the information was done as part of Task 2.3 (Evaluation of the SUBI tissue archive and database as a potential part of the European archive) of the previous EURATOM-funded project STORE (Sustaining access to Tissues and data frOm Radiobiological Experiments; contract number 23228), which was coordinated by BfS, Germany (see http://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/89386_en.html) .
It has been shown in the STORE project, that the biological material from the experiments conducted by SUBI can still be used. The respective Standard Operating Procedures are available on the STORE website (http://www.storedb.org/store_v3/documents.jsp ).
