The invention relates to a handheld power tool (10)， in particular a handheld circular saw， with a machining tool (22) designed as a circular saw blade， and with a sensor plate (66) that detects contact of human skin with the machining tool (22) and with electronics (68)， which energizes an actuator element (60) after contact of human skin with the processing tool (22)， the actuator element (60) triggering a braking process. It is proposed that the electronics (68) control both the touch detection and the braking process of the hand tool (10).
