The brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens (Stal, 1854) is a important pest of rice in Asia. Several strains of N. lugens developed resistance to many insecticides including imidacloprid, leading to serious damages in paddy fields. The goals of this project are to identify genes responsible for the resistances by genome-wide gene analysis and clarify the mechanisms. We also aim to isolate DNA markers which are usable for the development of molecular diagnosis methods which enables simple, rapid and precise monitoring of the development of resistance. This study will facilitate establishing a better management system to prevent or largely delay the development of insecticide resistance in N. lugens.

褐飞虱(Nilaparvata lugens,Stål, 1854)是亚洲水稻的重要害虫。已有多个褐飞虱品系对包括吡虫啉(imidacloprid)在内的多种杀虫剂产生抗药性,进而对稻田造成严重危害。本项目的研究目标为通过全基因组基因分析,鉴定与抗药性相关的基因并阐明其作用机制;同时旨在分离可用于开发分子诊断技术的DNA标记,以实现对抗药性发展情况的简便、快速且精准的监测。本研究将有助于建立更完善的防治体系,从而预防或大幅延缓褐飞虱抗药性的发展。
