RNA was collected from the seed-feeding wasp, Megastigmus spermotrophus (Hymenotpera: Torymidae). RNA isolated from larvae and adult samples was sequenced using Illumina. The assembled transcriptome was analyzed using bioinformatics approaches to identify putative venom transcripts highly expressed in female samples. The identification of putative venoms in seed-feeding wasps provides information on potential mechanisms of host-manipulation.
