PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide plant-based wrapping paper for wrapping food， in which the plants (raw materials) may be fruits， herbs， medical plants， tea， vegetables and/or spices according to the present invention that relates to a method for producing the wrapping paper， and its use for wrapping food or its use as a packaging material. SOLUTION: The method comprises the steps of: a) solvent-extracting a component of at least one plant; b) separating a soluble part (plant extraction material) from an insoluble part (solid plant particles); c) beating the insoluble part as needed; d) preparing a sheet-like product from the insoluble part; e) concentrating the soluble part as needed; f) coating the soluble part in the step b) or the soluble part concentrated in the step e) on a sheet; and g) drying the product in the step f) to obtain wrapping paper according to the present invention.
