This is the dataset corresponding to Meyer et al. 2020. 'Belowground changes to community structure alter methane-cycling dynamics in Amazonia'. Please cite this manuscript when using any of these archived contents.Sequences are of the V4 region of the 16S SSU rRNA gene, and were amplified using the 515F-806R primer combination.Included here are:1) Fastq files for each sample2) Meta data file with sample names, methane flux rates, soil chemical variables, and land use types and regions (see below for further details) 'MetaDataMeyerEtAl2020_archive.txt'3) ASV community matrix of DNA-based 16S rRNA gene sequences with taxonomy assigned '16S_ASV_Table_EnvIntl_archive.txt'4) ASV IDs for known methanogens and methanotrophs 'Methanogens_trophs_EnvIntl_archive.txt'5) Community attribute table of attributes tested for relationship with methane fluxes (including qPCR data of mcrA and pmoA genes) 'AttributeTableMeyerEtAl2020_archive.txt'6) Representative sequences used to assign taxonomy to ASVs '16S_rep_dna-sequences.fasta'The following Community Attribute data columns correspond to the community attributes presented in Meyer et al. 2020: 'Region' - either in the West (FNV) or the East (Santarem), 'Troph_rel_abun' - methanotroph relative abundance, 'Troph_rich'- methanotroph ASV richness, 'Gen_rel_abun'- methanogen relative abundance, 'Gen_rich' - methanogen ASV richness, 'Richness_16S' - ASV richness of the 16S-inferred community, 'Troph_prop' - proportion of methanotrophs in the methane-cycling community, 'mcra_copy_num' - normalized copy number of mcrA per g of soil, 'pmoa_copy_num' - normalized copy number of pmoA per g of soil, 'PC1-6_16S' - principle components 1 through 6 of 16S-inferred community.'
