An RNAseq-based transcriptomic comparison of Botrytis cinerea wild type and the BcXyr1 mutant was performed to correlate virulence defect of the mutant with changes in gene expression. Dozens of genes were downregulated in the mutant, and half of those encode secretory proteins, which are particularly enriched with CAZymes.
