资源简介:
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in its programme on biodiversity conservation partnered with the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) to implement biodiversity-based interventions along the Kenya-Somalia border. Investing in Honey Value Chains (HVC) for rural communities to conserve biodiversity was one of the key interventions for the programme. ICRAF commissioned a baseline survey in Witu and Awer (Lamu County) to collect information on variables such as the price of honey per litre, the total income from sale of honey per year, the number of women currently practicing beekeeping, level of education of beekeepers and different beekeeping practices. The survey targeted villages surrounding conservation areas of Boni, Dodori and Witu forests in Lamu County, Kenya.
