Using microfluidic droplets as a bioreactor for the co-cultivation of small subsets of a small number of cells, subsets of a human fecal sample microbial community were grown together. Droplets with high growth were selected and processed with multiple displacement amplification and subsequent sequencing to retrieve high-quality metagenome assembled genomes (MAGs) from individual sub-communities.
