DUST Project Survey: Citizens' Perceptions of Just Sustainability Transitions and Democratic Participation

This dataset contains survey responses from 9,543 citizens across five European countries: Bulgaria, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and Sweden. Conducted as part of the Horizon 2020 "Democratising Just Sustainability Transitions" (DUST) project, the survey investigates citizens' attitudes towards democratic innovations in the context of sustainability transitions. The dataset features a dual-sampling structure: a nationally representative sample for each country and a "boost" sample focusing on citizens from structurally weak regions eligible for the Just Transition Fund (JTF). Key modules include socio-demographics, political attitudes, climate change perceptions, social capital, and a conjoint experiment regarding preferences for the design of deliberative citizen panels. The data provides insights into the "ability" and "willingness" of different social groups to participate in governance.
